1. You were given the criteria and time to show your knowledge and understanding of the Unit on Canada's Confederation by creating a Mind map
Criteria for the Mind map:
1. The Mind map can be created using online platforms like Prezi, or drawn by hand and submitted on Schoology as a photo file
2. In the middle of the Mind Map page you should have the words CANADIAN CONFEDERATION with the official date and definition (explanation) of the term
3. The Mind Map must have the following sections:
A. List of BNA Colonies in 1860s
B. Reasons for Confederation
C. Conferences leading to Confederation
D. Intercontinental railway
E. Political parties and their leaders in the Province of Canada
F. Definitions of the Unit Vocabulary: Political deadlock, Rep by Pop, loose fish, BNA Act, Fenian raids, Manifest Destiny
G. Fathers of Confederation. (write the names, years of life and titles of 10 major politicians that were responsible for Confederation)
H. Draw a diagram of a structure of the new government ( Federal and Provincial)
I. Include a map of Canada in 1867 (with 4 provinces that comprised the newly created country) -you can find this online or hand draw. please label the Provinces
J. Include a photograph of John A. Macdonald with 3-5 sentences of a short political resume.
K. Include Canada's official motto, the first flag of Canada's Confederation and a photo of Queen Victoria
Neatness, color, spacial distribution of all the elements are important factors in your Mind Map
4. Each of the sections mentioned above should be expanded and explained in short and concise bullet form statements
Assessment: The assignment is the Final project for this UNIT and is worth 50 marks
