1. We looked at life in Upper and Lower Canada during 1800s
2. We looked at the reasons for the War of 1812 between British North America (Canada) and USA
Task 1 -Homework Check:
You and your partner pair share your Homework (Questions 1-19 in the worksheet from last class) and give your partner a grade out of 10
Definitions:
Upper Canada – “up” the St. Lawrence River, part of the present day Ontario mostly populated by British immigrants and Loyalist (to British crown)
Lower Canada –“down” the St. Lawrence River, part of present day Quebec, mostly populated by the French immigrants and colonies from Province of Quebec (former New France)
Task 2. You and your partner will decide which one of you will read an article about Upper and which one about Lower Canada
After reading the article, write down 2-3 points about each subheading of the Article. See an example in the pdf file below

Royal Proclamation, Quebec Act, American Revolution, Constitutional Act of 1791, Upper Canada, Lower Canada
* Write down your a summary or a definition of each of these terms in YOUR OWN WORDS
Task 2 Look at the map of Lower and Upper Canada (see below)
* Why were those colonies (provinces) called Upper and Lower Canada?
* Who populated them?
* What Canadian provinces roughly correspond to the borders of Upper and Lower Canada?
